GOVERNOR VISITS MIMER AND ZOKHUA AT FALKAWN
Hon’ble Governor Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan today visited Mizoram’s first medical college, Mizoram Institute of Medical Education and Research (MIMER) and Zokhua, a typical Mizo village both situated at Falkawn, 16km south of Aizawl.
The Governor first visited MIMER where he was welcomed by MIMER Director Dr. Lallukhum Fimate, Director of Health and Medical Education Dr. T. Lalhmangaihi and other officials. The Governor toured the premises and also interacted with the patients.
Meanwhile, Dr. L. Fimate said that through the commitment and patronage of the State government, the Referral Hospital has been upgraded to a medical college. He highlighted that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has granted a Letter of Permission (LoP) and even the Medical Council of India (MCI) was satisfied with the infrastructure, equipments, faculty and manpower to run the medical college. He also mentioned that the medical college will become an autonomous body under a society like any other prestigious medical institutes in the country.
The Governor then visited Zokhua, a typical Mizo village at Falkawn. He was received by Deputy Director Shri Lalchuailova and other officials from Art and Culture Department. Two dances namely Cheraw and Solakia were on display in honour of the visiting dignitary.
