A few prominent individuals of these areas shared the vision of a college as to facilitate easy access to higher education of younger generations of Serchhip and other adjoining villages. On 2nd November 1972, an ad hoc body was formed to undertake necessary initiatives and consequently a series of fund raising drives were undertaken through public donations, charitable contributions of dedicated men, auctioning of lands and rm sites etc. When the money procured through various sources amounted to 7000 rupees, the Managing Board boldly decided to open the college the following year. With a humble beginning, the college gradually grew in terms of student enrolment, sta and infrastructure.
