Sadananda Gowda praised
Lok Sabha MP CL Ruala for
proper implementation of the
MP’s Local Area Development
Scheme (MPLADS).
Gowda said Mizoram was
doing exceedingly well in implementing
the MPLADS,
which he thought would be a
role model for other MPs.
He made this remark during
a meeting on development
works with the State officials
and representatives of the
NHIDCL, Railways and other
PSUs at the Secretariat Conference
Hall here on Monday.
Gowda congratulated the
Congress MP who was also
present in the meeting. He
was also pleased with the
execution of Support for Statistical
Strengthening
Scheme – a financial support
system provided to States/
UTs for strengthening and
capacity building of their statistical systems.
Citing the needs to accelerate
the key schemes and Central
sector projects in the
north-eastern region with the
Central Government’s Act
East Policy, the Union Minister
stressed the need of
progress in particular areas
like railways and national highways
in the State.
“Timely completion of key
projects in the North Eastern
region is important in
order to bring in development
and betterment of the
people,” he said.
Expressing concern over
the railway project from
Bairabi in north Mizoram to
Sairang near Aizawl, the
minister said: “The delay in
completion of the project in
Mizoram is causing heavy
lossses for the people of Mizoram.
The Central Government
is open to clearing
the hurdles of the project.
The cooperation of the
State Government and the
people will be very helpful
in this regard.” - Assam Tribune
