Since March 21, at least 125 pigs have died at Lungsen village, about 39 km from Lunglei town southern Mizoram near Bangladesh border.
Preliminary test conducted at the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in Selesih near Aizawl suggested African Swine Fever as the main cause, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary joint director (Livestock Health) Dr Lalhmingthanga said.
Tissue and blood samples were sent to the National Institute of High Security Animal Disease (NIHSAD) in Bhopal on Wednesday for confirmatory test, he said.
