Seling-Champhai road, which is a part of AizawlChamphai road, was declared National Highway No 6 by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH) on March 2014, and accordingly, the Border Roads Organisation entrusted the road to the State PWD the following year. However, the State PWD actually took the responsibility only on March 31, 2017, he said. While the Government claimed that works on this National Highway could not be commenced as it took it over from the BRO only two years after it was officially handed over to the State PWD, the State Government had floated tender for construction of different stretches of this National Highway in 2016, he said.
