AIZAWL, April 10: Corruption
watchdog-turned-political
party PRISM (People’s Representatives
for Identity and Status
of Mizoram) today announced
the first batch of 10
candidates for the election to
the 40 seats of Mizoram Assembly
slated for this year-end.
PRISM president Vanlalruata
said his party will contest
from all the 40 seats of the state Assembly constituencies, and
the remaining 40 candidates
will be announced in due
course.
PRISM is the first political
party in Mizoram to announce
candidates for the Assembly
polls.
PRISM president Vanlalruata
said his party is promising
change in the state administration.
“We will form the government
and the people will see
change that we have promised.
This change will begin from announcement
of candidates and
election campaign.
The people
will witness our difference from
other parties,” he said.
Formed as People’s Right to
Information and Development
Implementing Society of Mizoram
(PRISM) in 2006, the
organisation was turned into a
political party and was rechristened
as People’s Representatives
for Identity and Status of
Mizoram (PRISM) this year.
On the organisation Vanlalruata
said, “We have been trying
to steer the government
to the right path since the last
11 years, but we have failed.
As we have failed to reform
the government from outside,
now the time has come , we
must form government.” He
blamed both the ruling and the
Opposition parties of lacking
real interest in trying to have
corruption-free popular government
that addresses the
needs of the people.-Assam Tribune
