The Governor of Mizoram Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, today, held a series of meetings at Raj Bhavan with several heads of departments under the Government of Mizoram to monitor and assess the status, progress and degree of implementation of various Centrally Sponsored programmes and schemes such as Doubling Farmers Income by 2022, Swachh Bharat Mission, Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DUGJY) and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) here in the state.
The Governor urged the officials to take up intensive and extensive monitoring of schemes implemented by the government to ensure that targeted households are thoroughly covered and that beneficiaries actually utilize services rendered by the government. He suggested that officials should make assessments in the remote areas where resources are not readily available, examine ground realities, evaluate problems and challenges faced by the public and work towards addressing such problems.
Saying that the government should give top priority to Doubling Farmers Income by 2022, he suggested that each districts should be assigned annual targets, monitoring work done at District levels and all Agriculture and its allied departments should work in close coordination. He urged the officials to take all possible steps to make sure that all cultivable lands are cultivated and that at least two different varieties of crops produced every year. The Governor is impressed with efforts taken up by the government in Mission Organic Mizoram and diversification of crop to boost production. He said that with the renewed efforts of the government and the farmers, the Prime Minister’s vision of doubling farmers income by 2022 can be achieved in Mizoram and all other North East States.
In his meeting with the Mizoram University Vice Chancellor Prof K.R.S. Sambasiva Rao, and other senior officials from the University, the Governor, who is the acting Chief Rector of the Mizoram University, stated that he is highly impressed with the dedication and professionalism of the faculties and staffs, their passionate focus on student success, achievements and resourcefulness. As per the latest statistics from UGC, Mizoram University is ranked 76th by the National Institutional Ranking Framework and accorded A Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
