The celebration of 5th International Day of Yoga, organized by Directorate of AYUSH and Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Mizoram was held today at Assam Rifles Lammual, Aizawl. The Chief Secretary Shri Lalnunmawia Chuaungo graced the occasion as chief guest.

1860 persons including personnel from Assam Rifles, Army, CAPFs, Police, NCC Cadets, representatives from departments of Mizoram Government, NGOs and students attended the event and participated in common yoga protocol mass practice. Around 850 personnel including locals also participated in this event at forward posts on Indo-Myanmar border.

As a prelude to the event, Assam Rifles also organised a two week Yoga Workshop at Aizawl with an aim to train the master trainers of various organizations which included CAPFs, State Government Agencies, NGOs and NCC Cadets representatives.

The event was celebrated with an aim to raise awareness and benefits of practicing yoga and develop art for inner well being. ~
