JAL SHAKTI ABHIYAN (A water conservation campaign) launching programme was held at DC's Conference Room, today here at Siaha.
Today's JSA launching program was graced by Shri. Lalsanglur, Central Prabhari Officer for JSA and Economic Adviser, Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizer, GoI, Shri. Manik Chandra Pandit, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development and Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Scientist E, National Institute of Hydrology.
JSA is a water conservation campaign and is to be implimented in 256 identified water stressed districts across the country. It aims at amoliorating water scarcity problems by conservation of water and water resources management by focusing on implimentation five targeted interventions. It also aims at making a water conservation movement for life through assets creation and communication campaign.
Siaha distrist is one amongst those identified water stressed districts from Mizoram state.
JSA will run in two phase and 1st Phase will start from 1st July,2019 to 15th September,2019 for those States &UTs which received in coming monsoon, and 2nd phase will run from 1st October, 2019 to 30th November,2019 for those states& UTs which received retreating monsoon
JAS will be spearheaded and implimented by officer, scientist and experts from GoI in co-operation with officials from concerned state and district. They will work in the realm of these five targeted interventions.
Siaha District Deputy Commissioner, Shri. Bhupesh Chaudhary IAS showcased, premised on those five targeted interventions, the preparedness and necessary ground works done so far for JSA through power point presentation.
Speaking at the Occassion Shri. Lalsanglur reiterated that JSA is the pet project of Hon'ble Prime Minister and it is a collobarative efforts of various union ministries, coordinated by Dept. of Drinking water and Sanitation(DDSW) and its success will much depend on the co-operation of all the stakeholders of the district, therefore I requested you all the citizens of Siaha district to extend your cooperation and embark upon this endevour with great zeal and dedication to solve our water scarcity problem, he added.
After launching programme at DC's conference room, Shri.Lalsanglur and his team alongwith concerned officials proceeded to Siaha PHED's water intake point from where gravity water supply system of Siaha town originated. Shri. Lalsanglur and his team members planted saplings at catchment Area of PHED's water sources as a mark of JSA launching and as a kick start of JSA as well.
Today's JSA launching programme was well attended by Head of Office, MJA members, representatives of various local NGOs, Joint VC, and invitees students. ~DIPR
