AIZAWL, Feb 27: The Mizoram
government is gearing up to hold a
four-day festival on its flagship project
New Land Use Policy (NLUP) during
which over 100 stalls will be put
up by the beneficiaries and local producers
to exhibit their produce.
The festival will begin from March

at the Vanapa Hall here.
According to officials of NLUP Implementing
Board, the festival aims
at providing an opportunity to the
beneficiaries to showcase their products.
“Providing sustainable development
to the local farmers and beneficiaries
being the main object of the
NLUP, the flagship programme has
been greatly benefited by the farmers
whose harvest has been shot up
to a great extent,” they said.
During the festival, various products
of successful beneficiaries like
rice, ghur, fruits, vegetables, silk,
dairy products and local-made machines
will be showcased which will
be sold at lower-rates. Besides, 10
NLUP line departments will also display
their various activities.
Officials also said that free veterinary
camp will also be organised
during the four-day festival.
There will also be photo exhibition

success stories of NLUP
beneficiaries. NLUP project was officially
launched in 2011.
According to officials, as many as
1.3 lakh families have so far been assisted
under the flagship programme
and steps have been initiated to cover
16,000 more families across the
state. The main aim of the NLUP is
to develop and give all farmers in
the state suitable, permanent and stable trades.

at giving all the village farmers selfsufficiency
in rice, vegetables etc.

of the NLUP also include putting
an end to wasteful shifting cultivation,
development of all suitable land
for Wet Rice Cultivation to attain self
